Darjeeling
Darjeeling is known to all nature lovers as "Queen of Hills", Darjeeling is situated in North East India, just south of Sikkim; Darjeeling provides the perfect ambiance of a hill resort with its mild climate and laid back charm. Its verdant hills and valleys are steeped in color, and are interspersed with vast stretches of rolling green tea gardens. Presiding over all this is Mt. Kangchenjunga, the third highest mountain on Earth, looming over the northern horizon, giving a magical aura to the land that leaves one's senses intoxicated.
Sikkim
Sikkim is small stretch of rugged land just 40 miles by 70 miles, sandwiched between Nepal Bhutan and Tibet, sequestered in the lap of the Himalayas is SIKKIM. Once known to all as The Kingdome of Sikkim - now a state of India. Sikkim provides a wide potential in tourism that has yet largely remained unexploited. The perennially snow-capped mountains, lush green tropical and temperate forests, streams and the rich flora and fauna - a true Shangrila or "Nye-mae-el" which simply means "heaven" NOTE: Entry to Sikkim is restricted. You will need to apply for permission to enter while applying for an Indian Visa. The permits are free and easy to obtain.
Languages spoken
Nepali is the main language of the people in Darjeeling and Sikkim. Large sections speak Lepcha and Tibetan. In the towns most people can communicate in English.
