Trekking is possible at any time of the year depending on where you are going. The most popular seasons are spring (February-May) and autumn (September-November). Winter is very cold above 3,500 meters and high mountain passes may be snow bound but it is good for trekking at lower altitudes. During the monsoon season (May-August), you may trek in the rain-shadow areas north of the Himalaya like Mustang, Dolpo and Tibet as well. These places are out of reach of the rain clouds because of the high mountains and are unaffected by the monsoon.

Acclimatization by ascending to no more than 300 meters to 500 meters per day above 3000 meters and the proper amount of rest are the best methods for prevention of Altitude Sickness. As we know from experiences some time we have to go about 600 to 800 meters also. The initial symptoms of the Altitude Sickness are: -Nausea, vomiting. -Loss of appetite. -Insomnia Sleeplessness. - Headache. -Dizziness, lights headache, confusion. - Drunken gait. -Weakness, fatigue, lassitude, heavy legs. -Slight swelling of hand and face. -Breathlessness and breathing irregularity. -Reduced urine output.
